This past weekend at the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) annual trade show on the Disney lot in Burbank, the Memphis & Shelby County Film and Television Commission Website was recognized as one of the top two film commission websites in the world. FilmMemphis.org was designed by the local company Live from Memphis and totally funded through grants from the  innovative public-private economic development initiative MemphisED.
The site was redesigned in late 2009 by entrepreneur and Website developer Christopher Reyes of Live From Memphis (Powered by Memphis). The site features ongoing news and event updates of interest to potential clients and the local film community, updated by Jon W. Sparks. It also features FilmMemphisTV, a series of videos highlighting productions by Commission clients that have shot locally.
The marketing awards were presented at the AFCI General Assembly Meeting on June 3 during AFCI Locations 2011 in Burbank, Calif. An independent judging panel of professional marketers and entertainment industry experts assessed each entry according to the criteria and selected finalists.
The winning commissions in the website category were:
1st Place: Film Victoria (Australia)
2nd Place: Memphis and Shelby County Film and Television Commission
3rd Place: Serbia Film Commission
